Just 36 days away from the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France. On Monday, the 3x3 basketball pool game schedule was announced for the both the men and women.
This Olympics is the first edition of the men's 3x3 basketball and will be interesting to watch the competition take place. It's the second edition of the women's 3x3 basketball as the United States took home gold in Tokyo.
The USA 3x3 basketball will take place from July 30-August 5 at the Place de la Concorde in Paris. The 3x3 competition will feature eight teams for both the men and women. All eight teams will play each other in the pool play. The top two teams will advance to the semifinals and teams placed 3rd through 6th will participate in the play-in stage. Teams placed 7th and 8th will be eliminated.
The USA Women's 3x3 team looks to defend their gold medal in 2020 with another gold medal in Paris for 2024. The team is consisted of first-time Olympics of Cameron Brink, Cierra Burdick, Rhyne Howard, and Hailey Van Lith. Van Lith is only one of the four that's still in college as she prepares for her senior season at TCU. Brink is a forward for the Los Angeles Spark, Howard is a guard for the Atlanta Dream, and Burdick is currently playing in Spain.
Unfortunately, Camron Brink suffered a non-contact injury on Tuesday evening in the 1st quarter of the Sparks' loss to the Connecticut Sun. With news breaking on Wednesday afternoon, Brink has suffered a torn ACL injury.
The defend of gold will begin on July 30 against Germany.

The men's 3x3 competition is in its inaugural year which bring a freshness competition to the Olympics after it worked for the women in Tokyo in 2020. Team USA men's 3x3 consisted of Canyon Barry, Jimmer Fredette, Kareem Maddox, and Dylan Travis. Each player is a first-time Olympian and have the cohesion as they have played together for better part of two whole years, so the camaraderie is there.
