It only gets worse for the USMNT. Earlier last week, their quest to win their fourth straight CONCACAF Nations League came to a shattering end after a loss to Panama. To make matters worse, they couldn't secure the bronze medal against Canada. The team is awful. And they're NOT ready for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The team is disorganized. Most importantly, they're unfocused, undisciplined, and UNMOTIVATED. The last two games are an embarrassment. At this pace, the USMNT wouldn't make it past the group stage. With the way they've played, they'd go winless at the World Cup.
Mauricio Pochettino has a lot of adjustments to make with this team. Since he took over, the USMNT hasn't done well. The fault isn't entirely on Pochettino as the players have not been effective. Unless they get their act together, improvements and better play will happen. The team has to re-evaluated and work on what needs to be improved.
This summer, the USMNT is competing in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. If they can pull though and miraculously win the Gold Cup, it'll a step forward. Right before the Gold Cup, the USMNT will play in two important exhibition games. Against Turkey and Switzerland. Fun and games are done for the USMNT. It's time for them to step up.
