College Football is about to commence! For the second straight and ninth time overall, Alabama is ranked #1 in the AP Preseason Top 25 poll. Georgia, the defending champions sit at #3 and we got Oklahoma at #9 followed by their fellow Big 12 foes, Baylor at #10.
Not surprisingly, Texas is NOT in the top 25. As far as Texas goes, based on how things went for them last season, it's obvious they wouldn't be in the top 25. Although Texas seemed to have a good recruit and signing day, it's about how the season plays out for them. It's interesting to see that Florida isn't in the top 25 either.
Alabama lost to Georgia in the Championship game. Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban claimed that last season was a "rebuilding" year for his Crimson Tide. Clemson finished 3rd in the ACC Atlantic. Oklahoma State lost to Baylor in last year's Big 12 Championship and Michigan took the Big 10. Last season was obviously very interesting. And the Cincinnati Bearcats? The College Football world knows how their story played out last season.
Alabama and Georgia won the SEC West and East respectively. The Crimson Tide beat the Bulldogs in the 2021 SEC Championship. In Alabama's case, they want to return to the title game and win another championship. Georgia wants to retain their title. Arkansas had a good season and they're looking to build on it. LSU is hoping for a better run this season.
The Sooners ought to be favored to win the Big 12. Michigan and Ohio State are willing to go to war to win the Big Ten. Michigan won't allow Ohio State to take the title away.
On September 10th, the Texas Longhorns will host Alabama in Austin. Cincinatti takes on Arkansas on September 3rd. Georgia and Oregon also meet on September 3rd. No doubt, Week 1's most exciting match has to be Notre Dame vs Ohio State.
