The 2024 NFL Honors!

Updated: 1 hour ago

By Alex Al-Kazzaz

It's Super Bowl week! This Sunday, the rematch from Super Bowl LVII: Philadelphia vs Kansas City. Will Patrick Mahomes & Company win their third straight title? Or will the Eagles get the job done? We'll find out soon enough...

Josh Allen did it! He's the 2024 NFL MVP. He narrowly beat 2-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson. Allen played well this season and led the Bills back to the AFC Championship. Sadly, Buffalo didn't get it done, so Allen's potential Super Bowl triumph remains to be seen. The man's leadership speaks for itself. Allen has now gone five straight seasons with 40 passing/rushing touchdowns. He threw 28 touchdowns this season and scored 12 on the run. He even had a career-low 6 interceptions.

Coach of the Year goes to Kevin O'Connell. There's an argument because many believe that Dan Quinn should have won this award. O'Connell has done well as the head coach of the Vikings. Last season, not much was expected from this team, but they managed to win 14 games. In O'Connell's two of three seasons so far, the Vikings have won at least 13 games twice only to crash out in the wildcard round of the playoffs. The Vikings are 27-9 in one-score games under O'Connell, going 9-1 in 2024.

Defensive Rookie of the Year goes to Jared Verse of the LA Rams. Selected 19th overall out of Florida State. He was LA's first first-round pick since 2016! LA's lone Pro Bowl guy in 2024. 4.5 sacks, 66 tackles, forcing two fumbles and recovering two. And he's got a great ability to pressure quarterbacks. Well deserved!

Comeback Player of the Year is JOE BURROW! 2023 was rough for Burrow and the Bengals. There were concerns for his future. Burrow won this award in 2021 after he suffered a torn ACL in his rookie year. In 2021, he led the Bengals to the Super Bowl where they lost to the LA Rams. In 2024, Burrow led the league in passing yards (4,918) and touchdown passes (43). Sadly, Burrow and the Bengals missed out on the playoffs in 2024.

Saquon Barkley is Offensive Player of the Year. Barkley became the ninth player to rush for 2,000 yards in a season. He was 100 yards shy of Eric Dickerson's record of 2,105 yards. The Eagles controversially sat him in their season finale. Barkley had SEVEN 60-plus-yard touchdown runs. And once again, for the record, he didn't turn on the Giants, the Giants TURNED ON HIM. Keep in mind, that Barkley tried to do business with the Giants, but the Giants had other intentions...BAD INTENSIONS. Paying Daniel Jones. Look at how that turned out.

Defensive Player of the Year goes to Patrick Surtain II. He had four interceptions this year, which ties his career-high. He even led the league in interception return yards (132). He surrendered the least yards in 2024 (306).

Offensive Rookie of the Year? JAYDEN DANIELS! There's ZERO argument there. In his first NFL season, he set many records. He's the sixth rookie to lead a team to a Conference Championship. He rushed for 891 yards, which is more than any rookie QB in NFL history. Five game-winning drives. Daniels also became the first quarterback ever to have at least an 85% completion rate in consecutive games. Daniels is the deserving recipient of this award. Again, ZERO argument.

And finally, Ben Jonhson is the Assistant Coach of the Year. The former Lions offensive coordinator is now head coach of the Chicago Bears. Johnson's scheme and philosophy played a huge role in Detroit winning 15 games in 2024, which is a franchise high. Johnson's offensive was a huge reason Detroit won their division and secured the first seed. Therefore, there's little to no argument at all in this situation.
