Reese Leads Sky to Victory over Clark and Fever

Darnell Sallins, Writer

The Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever were to do battle for the third time in the month of June. The Fever won the first two games at home in Indianapolis, but game three shifted to Chicago.

Obviously, the was about the two rookies going into Sunday's game being Caitlin Clark of the Fever and Angel Reese of the Sky.

The Fever came in on a 4-game winning streak and hold the 8th spot in the WNBA standings which means a playoff berth if the season had ended before today's game. The Sky was coming off a win against the Dallas Wings Thursday night.

Sunday's game itself was arguably the best game in WNBA this season only rivaling the New York Liberty-Phoenix Mercury from Tuesday night.

The Fever took a one-point into halftime as Caitlin Clark had 8 points and 7 assists for Indiana and Angel Reese had 8 points and 8 rebounds for Chicago. Chennedy Carter led all scoring with 15 points in the 1st half.

The 3rd quarter belong to the Fever as they went on a 24-5 to build a 15-point lead with 1:31 left in the quarter. Caitlin Clark passing was on display during that run with 6 assists and Kelsey Mitchell was on a heater scoring 12 points in the 3rd period.

However, an Angel showed up and the Sky fought back to only be down 8 points going into the 4th quarter.

Now, then Angel Reese fully took over in the 4th quarter. Reese scored 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds as the 15-point deficit was wiped away and the Sky took the lead and held on for an 88-87 victory.

Angel Reese finished with a career-high 25 points and 16 rebounds in a comeback victory for the home. Reese became the 2nd rookie ever to have a 25-point, 15-rebound game in WNBA history behind A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces.

Caitlin Clark finished with 17 points, 13 assists, and 6 rebounds but wasn't involved much in the 4th quarter. Only scoring 6 points, grabbing one rebound, and having no assists in the 4 quarter.

Today is all about Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky
