Quick Thoughts

  • The highlight of the second round of fixtures has to be the confrontation between Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel at the conclusion of the Chelsea-Spurs. The match itself was the most exciting of the new season, but the managers' antics stole the spotlight. Tuchel in particular was clearly on edge throughout the match. It could be argued he should have been sent off earlier in the match for running down the touchline and through the Spurs technical area to celebrate Reece James' go-ahead goal. Both managers will likely face suspensions for their actions, with Tuchel facing additional discipline for his questioning of the match official

  • Liverpool is weird right now. They could do with 1-2 more signings, but the current squad is too good to continue getting poor results. Their marquee new signing Darwin Nunez getting sent off for losing his cool and pulling a Zidane certainly did not help in their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace. Luckily their next match sees them taking on the Premier League's worst team...

  • Manchester United. What a disaster. All of the mismanagement of the post-Fergie era has finally congealed into a perfect storm, and it seems like it will only get worse. Manchester United being in a relegation battle seems unthinkable, but it is hard to see anything else unless there are major changes to the squad in the final weeks of the transfer window. The heat on the Glazer family is also increasing, but reports they may sell their team seem unlikely to me. As long as they can continue to shift their personal debt onto the club, and cash in their yearly dividends, they are not going anywhere.

  • Manchester City has already won the league. This sucks.
