30 points, three rebounds, five assists, two steals, three blocks, and a sweep of rival UCLA Bruins, JuJu Watkins is the best player in college basketball. The Battle of Los Angeles was one-sided this season as the fourth ranked USC Trojans beat the second ranked UCLA Bruins in dominant fashion Saturday night.
The sweep of their inner-city rival gives USC the Big Ten regular season title and the top seed going into the Big Ten Tournament beginning March 5 in Indianapolis. This Los Angeles rivalry was dominated by JuJu Watkins in the Trojans inaugural season as a Big Ten school. Both matchups with the Bruins, Watkins went off for 30+ points, 5+ assists, and 3+ blocks.
Going into the big game Saturday night, Watkins averaged 25.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.7 steals, and 3.2 blocks per games versus ranked opponents this season. The Trojans were 8-1 in those games leading into Saturday night.
Watkins' 30-point, 5-assist, and 3-block game Saturday night has slammed the door shut on the Player of the Year conversation. JuJu runs Los Angeles, but she also runs college basketball.
