The football knockout stage for the 2024 Summer Olympics is set. Eight competitors are set to reach the final four in hopes of making the final to go for the gold. France are the hosts and they're taking on an adversary that's not been too kind as of late...Argentina.
In the 2022 FIFA World Cup, France was the defending World Champs and was close to retaining their world title only to fall Lionel Messi and Argentina. While this situation is different considering these are under-23 players for the most part, France still has a point to prove. France wants to go for a medal on home soil. They're looking to do what the French Rugby seven team did; win the gold.
France won all three matches in the group stage. The team looks good. Despite the struggles from their match against Guinea, France certainly got a little redemption with a 3-0 win over New Zealand. Now it's time to get serious as Argentina would love to do what the Argentine senior squad did in Qatar in 2022. France doesn't want to leave without a medal, so this is their chance.
If France can win, they face either Egypt or Paraguay. It looks as though Spain is destined to reach the final of this one from the other side of the bracket. Spain's been dominant in the sport as the senior squad just won the UEFA Euro while the U-19 team won the U-19 Euro, beating France in the final. France needs some redemption. THIS IS THEIR CHANCE!
