It is with great sadness that we share the unfortunate news of the death of former Dallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber III. Barber was found in his apartment dead by police officers who were on a welfare call, according to NBC5. No cause of death has been reported at this time. Barber was 38 years old.
Barber played with the Cowboys from 2005 to 2010. He would spend the 2011 season with the Chicago Bears before announcing his retirement in March of 2012. Barber played college football at the University of Minnesota. Dallas selected him in the 4th round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Barber rushed for nearly 5,000 yards in his career and had 53 rushing touchdowns. In addition, he would register a total of 179 catches for 1, 330 yards and six touchdowns. In 2007, he was named to the NFL Pro Bowl.
Barber would have turned 39 next week. On behalf of The Playmakerz Blog, we send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Barber's family and friends.
