After two very disappointing results at home, FC Dallas was able to pick up a must-needed win on the road against Real Salt Lake. With a 2-1-2 record, FC Dallas sits in the eighth place in the MLS Western standings. They'll be playing at home this week against Sporting Kansas City, and FC Dallas is still looking for their first win at home this season. FC Dallas is determined to build a winning streak.
Scoring issues continue to hinder FC Dallas. The club continues to struggle to convert scoring chances. Thankfully, they were able to score on goal against Real Salt Lake and it was enough to pick up the win. Defensive efforts look fine, but there's room for improvement. The biggest issue for FC Dallas is scoring goals as they scored one goal off a total of five shots-on-target against Real Salt Lake.
"We moved the ball well, we were getting into good areas and dictating the pace of the game," FC Dallas Head Coach Eric Quill said after the game. "We had some big chances to go two or three up but didn’t take those chances."
FC Dallas took the lead deep into stoppage time at the end of the first half. They're fortunate that Real Salt Lake couldn't respond in any way. FC Dallas Forward Luciano Acosta scored the game's only goal. Prior to scoring, he had failed to convert a penalty.
"We had to respond well. We had two losses at home, and we knew it was going to be a difficult match, " Luciano said after the game. "After not converting the penalty, I was a little frustrated and wanted to score a goal to get motivated. We trust each other. We work day after day, and the truth is, we’re very happy."
