Damian Lillard looks to make history during All-Star Weekend

The NBA continues to stay in the headlines, and the latest official update comes with fan favorite Damian Lillard. The current Milwaukee Buck is set to chase NBA notoriety that hasn't been seen for some time. Being on any list with Larry Bird and Craig Hodges as a shooter is usually pretty good. And the former Weber State player has a chance to join those two historic greats after the upcoming All-Star Weekend.

A significant achievement will be chased during this year's 3-Point Contest. Lillard aims to win it again. And if he does, it'll be his third win in a row in the competition. Dame Time is known to be a killer from range. He can score from downtown in a multitude of ways. Catch and shoot, off the dribble, off-platform—it doesn't matter. Each type of deep shot is as likely to hit as any other.

But only one aspect matters for the event itself. The participant needs to get into a rhythm early and nail the money balls. More importantly, cold streaks need to be avoided at all costs. At least to get through to the final rounds.

This is, of course, easier said than done. However, few are better positioned to be able to match and then set the pace better than Damian Lillard. Case and point: if the competition were a one-on-one shooting exhibition against Steph Curry, some wouldn't even hesitate to back the longtime Portland Trail Blazer. Luckily for him, the Golden State Warriors will not be represented by their franchise player for this one.

Regardless, there will still be formidable competition. And as stated, anyone can realistically get and stay hot at any point. But if fans are going to pick a winner beforehand, it may be safe to stick with the guy who is on a current winning streak.

What Damian Lillard has to gain

Three point specialist Damian Lillard seeks to chase history and join a notable, historic NBA list of all-time great shooters. The Milwaukee Bucks faithful will be eager to root for their guard.

The Bucks' season has not started off strong. But their run of play has turned around. And the pieces look to be more on the same page compared to October and November. Either way, Milwaukee will face something of an uphill battle to unseat the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics in the East.

He has a better chance of getting a ring with Giannis. But even so, it's very possible that he ends his career without a championship win. Individual accolades are not what he plays for, but achieving something of this magnitude would be highly significant for his resume after he elects to hang it up. Basketball fans are sure to tune in when Damian Lillard attempts to get a three-peat of his own.
