The Dallas Cowboys are officially OUT of playoff contention. There are two games remaining. With nothing to lose, the team has shut down wide receiver CeeDee Lamb for the rest of the season. Dallas is 7-8 and they play Philadelphia tomorrow. The injuries have taken a massive toll on this team all season. The health of players is a top priority.
Dallas' decision to shut down Lamb is the correct one. Lamb's been dealing with shoulder problems since the loss to the Atlanta Falcons. A sprained AC joint was the diagnosis, but Lamb played through it and as time went on, the injury continued to be aggravated. In Dallas' win over Tampa, Lamb aggravated the injury further on a 52-yard reception. Lamb is not expected to have surgery. Not yet at least. If Lamb pulls through without needing to undergo surgery, the Cowboys will have dodged a bullet. Lamb needs to be 100 percent come training camp next summer.
The Cowboys were ruled out of playoff contention after Washington's win over Philadelphia last week. Upon receiving the news, they played a good game against Tampa and earned a hard-fought win thanks primarily to late turnovers forced by the defense. Philadelphia looks to have the NFC East title secured, and they can officially be crowned the champs with a win over Dallas which is more than likely to happen tomorrow.
Once the season concludes, the Cowboys need to move on from Mike McCarthy as well as their offensive coordinator. Mike Zimmer appears to be safe, but it would NOT be a bad move to move on from Zimmer, as well. Dallas has a lot of work to do this off-season. The future is very uncertain.
