Listening to Candace Parker explain the latest Mavericks trade is far from likely to help Dallas fans. GM Nico Harrison made a shocking move that everyone in the sporting world noticed. But is there a reasonable line of thought as to why he gave up the presumed franchise star in his prime? The NBA on TNT panel sat down and discussed all aspects. Throughout Tuesday night hoops, Candace Parker sought to bring clarity to the developments.

Dallas is being universally attacked for making a bad trade. But the former WNBA players' comments may begin to give fans a reason as to why events unfolded the way they did. She explained during the show, "The $117 million that Luka is losing not being able to sign a Supermax deal...Now going forward with guys, is this a way for ownership to get out of the Supermax contract?" Shocker. Everything comes down to money. However, don't be too quick to judge. Instead, fans need to be on the lookout for similar scenarios in the future. Teams are showing their willingness to move on more and more.

There was clear friction between Doncic and the organization, valid or not. Candace Parker is pointing out that if a front office is not sold on the centerpiece, they'll be more apt to move on, versus paying top dollar. And this approach makes sense. The inability to see past critical differences becomes an important factor. Take this Dallas situation, for example. People in the building clearly believed that he wasn't the right person to continue to be the face. Yes, they just came off a conference final appearance. However, the team was struggling to stay afloat, in and out of the play-in. Because they believed that the ceiling had been hit and they didn't see the team being able to get over the final hump, a move needed to be made.

Future ramifications of Candace Parker's words

Candace Parker gave a path as to why the Dallas Mavericks may have made the move and more importantly showed NBA fans what to look out for moving forward.

It's, of course, fine to disagree with this assessment of one of the better players in the league. But moving forward, if any franchise believes in thinking along a similar wavelength, it only makes sense to move on. Rather than financially committing long-term to someone you aren't entirely in love with, it's better to separate sooner. Furthermore, by doing so and catching the NBA off guard, they managed to get a top player in Davis back.

Conversely, everyone knows that Jimmy Butler wants to get out of Miami and that he has a sole landing destination in Phoenix. Either way, when players demand a trade, that's something of a ticking time bomb. Also, while the list isn't usually only limited to a singular team, it does tend to be limited in terms of mobility. Heed this warning from Candace Parker: we could be seeing more blockbuster headlines like AD-Doncic in the future soon.
